A rupture among Alberta separatists
It's been an eventful few days in Alberta, as some significant developments have impacted a possible fall referendum on Alberta independence. The separatist group Stay Free Alberta has submitted their petition, claiming to have collected just over 300,000 signatures in support of a vote on separation. That would be well above the threshold, but a court injunction has left the verification of that petition in legal limbo. In the meantime, a data breach scandal has erupted around the movement as Elections Alberta is now investigating the potential misuse of Alberta's official voter list by a pro-separation group. This all ratchets up the pressure on Premier Danielle Smith, who now has some huge decisions to make. In this interview, Rob Breakenridge is joined by Jesse Snyder, Western Correspondent for the National Post for the latest on these developments and where everything goes from here.
