The project also incorporates a cultural hub to support artisans, designers, and small creative businesses, alongside commercial and public spaces intended to attract both residents and visitors. “The long-term development of Historic Cairo depends on aligning urban planning, infrastructure, and economic activity within a coherent framework,” said Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Governor of Cairo. “Citadel Plaza reflects this approach, introducing the structure and capacity needed to support a more active district, with tourism as a key driver of future growth.” Implementation will proceed in phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion by Q4 2027 and hospitality components expected to be delivered by Q4 2029.
