Army chief delivers 1st-ever keynote speech by Korean general at LANPAC
Republic of Korea (ROK) Army Chief of Staff Gen. Kim Gyu-ha attended the Land Forces Pacific Symposium and Exposition (LANPAC) in Hawaii from May 12-14 (local time), delivering the first-ever keynote address by a Korean general at the annual forum, the Army said Friday. Organized by the Association of the United States Army and sponsored by U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), LANPAC brings together land force commanders from Indo-Pacific nations to discuss regional security issues and the future of ground forces. The last ROK Army chief of staff to attend was Gen. Park An-su in 2024. In his keynote address, titled "Accelerating the Transformation of the Republic of Korea Army," Kim outlined the service's transformation since 2018 and the steps taken to accelerate modernization since taking command.
