Chinese supertanker reportedly transits Strait of Hormuz
Chinese supertanker reportedly transits Strait of Hormuz A Chinese crude oil supertanker identified as Yuan Hua Hu was transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, Al Jazeera reported, quoting ship-tracking data. Monitoring services showed the vessel moving through the strategically important waterway while heading south out of the Gulf region. Reports said the tanker passed near Lark Island on the eastern side of the strait during its transit. The movement is seen as a relatively rare crossing amid heightened tensions, security concerns and continuing disruptions to shipping traffic in the area. Chinese and Russian naval vessels take part in joint drills in the Gulf of Oman, 11 March 2025. (ZUMA Press/Reuters)
