“Prominent media personality David ‘Kochie’ Koch has been made an Honorary Doctor at Flinders University for advocating for small business and promoting South Australia as a destination of choice. A product of Largs North in the west of Adelaide, the newly minted Dr Koch is best known for his 21-year stint as co-host of Seven Network ’ s Sunrise breakfast program, holding the record for the longest-serving breakfast show co-host in Australia. He started his career as a finance journalist in the 1980s and went on to become a financial commentator in the media sphere. In 2005, he founded Pinstripe Media, a specialist content creation company for the small business and personal finance sectors, and founded Ausbiz, a business and markets live streaming channel, in 2020. Dr Koch still regularly appears on television and social media through his role as economic director of Compare the Market, a price comparison website for insurance, energy providers and home loans, as in the clip below. As he accepted the doctorate, Dr Koch attributed his success and happiness to the team that surrounds him.
