The event moderator is Jon Gould , dean of UC Irvine’s School of Social Ecology. Featured speakers include: Jim Robb , vice president of alliances and activism at NumbersUSA . In 1996, Robb co-founded NumbersUSA, a national grassroots organization advocating for immigration reforms aligned with America’s economic, environmental and social interests. The author of Political Migrants: Hispanic Voters on the Move (2022), he pioneered early web-based civic engagement tools – including free faxing to Congress – through which NumbersUSA members have sent more than 50 million messages to lawmakers. Diego Sanchez , vice president of policy and strategy for the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration . An immigration attorney and policy strategist, Sanchez leads the alliance’s policy team and legislative agenda, helping college and university leaders navigate immigration policy developments affecting students, campuses and communities. In addition, the former DACA recipient is a nonresident fellow at Cornell University’s Center on Global Democracy and serves on the leadership team of the Citizens Commission on Immigration, as does Robb. BACKGROUND: Dialogue During a Time of Disruption: “Immigration in Transition” asks the question: What should the future of immigration look like in the United States? The event is presented in partnership with leading Orange County businesses and civic and community organizations including the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the OC Forum, Orange County Business Council, Orange County Grantmakers, the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce and the World Affairs Council of Orange County. ### For UC Irvine breaking news, visit news.uci.edu.
