Fadhlina: All technical secondary schools placed under fully residential schools division
KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — All nine Technical Secondary Schools (SMT) nationwide have officially been placed under the management of the Fully Residential Schools Management Division (BPSBP) of the Education Ministry (MoE). Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the move was not merely an operational transfer, but a carefully planned strategic initiative aimed at elevating the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda. Under the new restructuring, the schools will now be known as Technical Fully Residential Schools (SBP-T), with a focus on high-performing academic and technical excellence. “This initiative places SBP-T on par with other fully residential schools (SBP),” she said in a Facebook post yesterday. Fadhlina said the role of SBP-T would continue to be strengthened to ensure the institutions are able to produce outstanding talent in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields to meet the country’s future skilled workforce needs. The technical secondary schools were previously managed by the Technical and Vocational Education Division (BPLTV). The restructuring is expected to serve as a catalyst for efforts to enhance the quality of technical education, strengthen talent development and produce more highly skilled students capable of meeting future industry and national development needs. — Bernama
