HONOR launches Magic V6 in Qatar, redefining AI-powered foldable smartphones
Global AI device ecosystem company HONOR has officially unveiled its latest flagship foldable smartphone, the HONOR Magic V6, in Qatar, introducing a device that combines ultra-slim design, advanced durability, AI-powered productivity, and seamless cross-ecosystem connectivity. The launch marks another milestone in HONOR’s growing presence across the Gulf region as the company seeks to strengthen its position in the premium smartphone segment. Designed for professionals, content creators and technology enthusiasts, the Magic V6 aims to address long-standing concerns surrounding foldable smartphones while introducing new productivity features powered by artificial intelligence. Speaking during the launch event in Doha, Debo Zhang, CEO of HONOR GCC, said the company’s vision is to eliminate the compromises traditionally associated with foldable devices. “The industry needs the courage to evolve. Foldable users should never have to compromise between design, reliability and performance,” Zhang said. “With the HONOR Magic V6, we focused on what truly matters: a natural form factor, trusted durability and seamless cross-ecosystem productivity.” During an interview on the sidelines of the launch, Zhang underscored the strategic importance of Qatar to HONOR’s regional growth ambitions, describing the country as one of the most significant markets for premium smartphones in the Gulf. “Qatar is one of the most developed countries in the Middle East and one of the most important markets for flagship devices,” he said. “The country’s infrastructure, technological readiness and strong demand for premium products make it a key market for HONOR.” Zhang also revealed that HONOR currently commands an estimated 18% share of Qatar’s smartphone market and is targeting more than 22% by the end of the year. Beyond smartphones, the company is also focusing on expanding its ecosystem portfolio, including tablets, smartwatches, earbuds and other connected devices. “HONOR today offers a complete ecosystem of products, ranging from entry-level smartphones to flagship devices such as the Magic V6,” Zhang said. “Our objective is not only to grow our smartphone business but also to strengthen our presence across tablets, wearables and accessories in Qatar and across the GCC.” Addressing competition in the smartphone industry, Zhang emphasized that quality remains the cornerstone of HONOR’s strategy to build consumer trust. “Quality is always the most important factor in earning people’s trust,” he said. “Although HONOR is a relatively young brand, our ambition is to become a leading global technology company, and markets such as Qatar are critical to that journey.” The launch of the Magic V6 reflects that ambition. Combining a remarkably slim form factor with flagship-level performance and AI-driven capabilities, the device is designed to deliver both productivity and portability without compromise. Ultra-Slim Yet Built to Last One of the standout features of the Magic V6 is its remarkably slim profile. Measuring just 8.75mm when folded and 4.0mm when unfolded, while weighing approximately 219 grams, the device is among the lightest and thinnest foldable smartphones currently available. According to HONOR, the design allows users to enjoy the benefits of a large foldable display without the bulk traditionally associated with foldable devices. Zhang noted that one of the biggest concerns among consumers considering foldable smartphones has been the balance between screen size and portability. “Foldable phones represent the future because they offer a larger screen and a better viewing experience,” he said. “However, many consumers worry about weight and thickness. With the Magic V6, we wanted to eliminate those concerns by creating a foldable device that feels as comfortable as a traditional smartphone while providing a much larger display when unfolded.” Despite its slim form, durability remains a key focus. At the heart of the device is HONOR’s Super Steel Hinge, engineered with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa and reinforced by an AI-assisted bionic cushioning system designed to absorb impact and distribute force more effectively during accidental drops. The device features an inner display protected by ultra-thin glass technology and an outer display covered by HONOR’s Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield. The company says the advanced silicon nitride coating significantly enhances scratch resistance and overall durability. Adding to its rugged credentials, the Magic V6 carries both IP68 and IP69 certifications, offering protection against water, dust and high-pressure sprays—an uncommon feature among foldable smartphones. Durability, Zhang stressed, is one of HONOR’s key competitive strengths. “The screen is stronger than before, the device is designed to withstand the extreme temperatures of the Middle East, and it offers excellent resistance to water and dust,” he said. “We want customers to feel completely secure when using HONOR devices.” Large Displays Designed for Productivity The Magic V6 features a 6.52-inch outer display and a spacious 7.95-inch foldable inner display, both supporting adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.The outer screen reaches peak brightness levels of 6,000 nits, while the inner display achieves 5,000 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even under direct sunlight. Both screens also incorporate eye-comfort technologies, including 4,320Hz PWM dimming, designed to reduce eye strain during extended usage. For professionals increasingly working remotely and across multiple applications, HONOR believes the larger display format can significantly improve productivity.“Today’s professionals work across time zones, devices and applications,” the company noted during the launch. “Foldable devices represent the next evolution in mobile productivity.” Record-Breaking Battery and Flagship Performance Battery life has historically been one of the biggest challenges for foldable smartphones. HONOR seeks to address this with a 6,660mAh Silicon-carbon Battery, which the company describes as the largest battery ever incorporated into a foldable smartphone. The Magic V6 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform built on a 3nm process. Combined with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, the smartphone is designed to handle demanding multitasking, gaming and professional workflows. To complement its battery capabilities, the device supports 80W wired charging, 66W wireless charging and wireless reverse charging. AI at the Core Artificial intelligence plays a central role in the Magic V6 experience. Running on MagicOS 10, the device incorporates a range of AI-powered tools aimed at simplifying everyday tasks and enhancing productivity. The suite includes AI Settings Agent, AI Photos Agent, AI Suggestions and AI Screen Suggestions, which help users manage content, streamline workflows and interact with contextual information displayed on the screen. The smartphone also features HONOR’s AI Falcon Camera System, consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 64MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. “AI is not just about technology for technology’s sake,” Zhang said. “Our goal is to use AI to help consumers live better lives and enjoy a smarter, more convenient experience.” Breaking Ecosystem Barriers A major focus of the Magic V6 is cross-platform compatibility. HONOR has introduced enhanced connectivity features that allow users to transfer files, share notifications and collaborate across devices including iPhones, Macs, AirPods and Apple Watches. Through HONOR Share and Quick Share technologies, users can move content seamlessly between Android and compatible Apple devices without requiring third-party applications. The company believes this interoperability addresses a growing demand among professionals who increasingly work across multiple ecosystems rather than remaining tied to a single brand. Pre-Orders Open The HONOR Magic V6 is currently available for pre-order in Qatar in Red, Gold, White and Black colour options, priced at QAR 6,999. Open sales are scheduled to begin on June 25. With its combination of lightweight design, flagship-level durability, advanced AI capabilities and productivity-focused features, the Magic V6 represents HONOR’s latest effort to redefine the foldable smartphone experience and position foldables as practical tools for the modern mobile workforce.
