“Iran says ceasefire terms meet minimum standards for lasting peace Iran’s deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi has defended Tehran’s proposal to end the war, describing it as a baseline for any credible and durable agreement. Writing on X, Gharibabadi said the plan reflects “the minimum requirements of any serious, sustainable arrangement aligned with the UN Charter”. He condemend Washington’s rejection of the proposal, arguing it exposes a broader agenda. “When the party that has directly played a role in the war, siege, sanctions, and threats through brute force rejects Iran’s response solely because it is not a letter of surrender, it becomes clear that the main issue is not peace, but the imposition of political will through the path of threats and pressure,” he wrote. Gharibabadi said Iran’s conditions include a permanent end to hostilities, compensation for damages and the removal of what he described as “illegal sanctions”. He also accused the United States and its allies of undermining diplomacy through continued pressure. “One cannot speak of a ceasefire while continuing the siege; talk of diplomacy while intensifying sanctions; or discuss regional stability while providing political and military support to a regime that is the source of aggression and instability,” he said. “Such an approach is not negotiation; it is the continuation of a policy of coercion with diplomatic verbiage.”
