IRGC says US struck communications tower on Qeshm Island
IRGC says US struck communications tower on Qeshm Island The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the United States targeted a communications tower on Qeshm Island, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, adding that Iran responded by striking a US military base in the region. “The American enemy targeted our communications tower on Qeshm Island, and we responded by targeting an American base in the region,” the IRGC said. "We targeted the US Fifth Fleet headquarters with missiles and drones in response to the attack on Qeshm Island," it said. Earlier, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported explosions on Qeshm Island, citing sources who said the cause was initially unclear. Al Jazeera reported that several explosions have been observed in southern Iran in recent days, linked variously to the downing of US drones, US strikes on IRGC sites, and the launch of Iranian drones.
