Jeonbuk National University reopens art hall after extensive renovation
Jeonbuk National University has reopened an art hall following extensive renovation work, transforming it into a safer and more comfortable space for culture and the arts, the school said Tuesday. Yang O-bong, president of the university, held a reopening ceremony in the lobby of the Geon Ji Art Hall, a small theater at Jeonbuk National University's Samsung Art Center in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, on Friday. The university said the renovation project was made possible through an 8 billion won donation from Kim Jeong-ok, chairperson of the Kim Hee-kyung Scholarship Foundation for European Humanities. The school noted that 6 billion won was invested in renovating the art hall as well as the Youngsan Hall, the main theater of the Samsung Art Center. “Geon Ji Art Hall was reborn thanks to Chairperson Kim’s valuable vision and dedication,” Yang said, “I hope the (reopened) art hall will become an open venue where members of our university as well as local residents can come together to enjoy culture and the arts.” Kim, senior school officials, professors and administrators of the
