“PUTRAJAYA, May 25 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has agreed to immediately restore its online transfer of vehicle ownership (THM) transaction service, with any future suspension for system upgrades to be carried out only during the long holiday period this weekend. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the decision was made following discussions with JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, after media reports emerged last night about the suspension of the service. “JPJ informed the ministry regarding abuse and fraud involving the ownership transfer system, which resulted in liabilities that had to be borne by the department. Therefore, JPJ needs to carry out improvements to the online system as soon as possible. “However, I have advised JPJ to ensure that system enhancement works do not disrupt the daily affairs of ordinary users or cause major congestion at JPJ offices,” he said in a Facebook post today. Earlier media reports stated that all online vehicle ownership transfer transactions had been temporarily suspended effective today, involving all digital platforms, including public portals, kiosks and business partners such as MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd. — Bernama
