Klang hit-and-run leaves two sisters dead and 17-year-old boy injured
KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — A family walk to dinner in Bandar Baru Klang, Selangor ended in the death of two women and the hospitalisation of a 17-year-old boy after a hit-and-run along Jalan Pekan Baru at about 7.40pm yesterday. North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the deceased were two sisters aged 57 and 62 while the survivor was the son of one of the women, The Star reported today. He said investigations so far indicated that a silver SUV travelling from Jalan Meru towards Bandar Baru Klang crashed into the three pedestrians who were on the road shoulder before fleeing the scene. He believes the trio were walking from their nearby home to have dinner when the crash happened. He said both women died at the scene from severe head injuries while the boy had minor injuries and is receiving treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang. He added that police have yet to record a statement from the teen. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, punishable with a jail term between two and 10 years, and fined between RM5,000 and RM20,000. Anyone convicted under this section will also lose their driving licence for at least three years, or 10 years for repeat offenders. Police are seeking further information and urge those with details to contact the investigating officer Inspector Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860 or visit the nearest police station.
