Kluang childcare teacher accused of forcing pupil to drink chilli-infused water
KLUANG, May 29 — Police are investigating a claim that a seven-year-old child was forced to drink chilli-infused water by a teacher at a childcare centre in Taman Sri Kluang here. Kluang police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh said the child's guardian lodged a report at about 8.46 pm yesterday, alleging that the teacher had forced the child to consume the drink. “The case is still under investigation and further developments will be announced in due course,” he said in a statement today. Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the nearest police station or the Kluang district police headquarters at 07-7784222. Earlier, a post on the Facebook page This is Johor went viral, alleging that a teacher at the kindergarten had abused and physically punished pupils. — Bernama
