“KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — Malaysia has expressed utter condemnation for a recently announced plan by the Zionist Israeli regime to seize and expand its control over 70 per cent of the Gaza Strip. The Foreign Ministry describes the move as illegal, politically unacceptable, and yet another egregious violation of international law, the United Nations (UN) Charter, as well as numerous UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions. “Malaysia calls on the international community and the UN to unequivocally reject the plan, warning that any attempt to alter the territorial reality of Gaza will further undermine prospects for peace and justice,” the ministry said in a statement on Saturday. The ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said that Gaza has long been an integral part of the Palestinian Territory even before the creation of Israel, and any move by the regime to alter Gaza’s territorial reality will lead to further blatant injustices and exacerbate the already volatile peace in the region. “The people of Gaza continue to suffer because of the Zionist Israeli regime’s genocide and destruction in Gaza. Any annexation of the Palestinian land and living space cannot be justified under any pretext whatsoever. “Instead, it only reflects clearly an evil and calculated intention of the regime to deprive the Palestinian people of their legitimate and inalienable rights, including their right to an independent and sovereign state on their own Territory of West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem,” the ministry added. Malaysia also reiterates its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and its longstanding support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. — Bernama
