Man accused of stabbing woman in the neck in Kedah car attack to be charged tomorrow
KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — A man suspected of stabbing his female friend in the neck inside a car in Titi Gajah, Kepala Batas in Alor Setar, Kedash, on May 17 will be charged tomorrow. Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Syed Basri Syed Ali confirmed the matter, saying the suspect will be charged at the Alor Setar Sessions Court, Harian Metro reported today. In the 9.19pm incident, a 35-year-old woman was injured after she was allegedly stabbed by her male friend inside a car in front of a restaurant. The suspect fled the scene but was arrested by police four hours later. A knife believed to have been used in the attack was found the next day in a paddy field near the location. Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah previously said the incident was believed to be motivated by jealousy or unrequited love. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. Meanwhile, the victim, a single mother, underwent nearly 10 hours of surgery at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) and is now in stable condition.
