KOTA KINABALU, May 16 — A 21-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with threatening to cause death to a woman. Muhammad Wahyu Abdullah pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to criminally intimidating one Sitti Aminah by threatening to cause death at a rented room on the first floor of Kampung Air here at about 12.30pm on May 5, this year. The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, on conviction. The court set July 9 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on bail of RM1,200 in two sureties. Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man was fined RM2,800 or six months’ jail for keeping a stolen wall fan. Maarof Garib pleaded guilty to having the stolen wall fan belonging to Shell Station Wisma Innoprise, Jalan UMS, at the male surau of the petrol station at about 12.30pm on May 9. The offence under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years, or a fine, or both, on conviction. The court heard from the prosecution that the complainant discovered the wall fan missing during a patrol at the said surau at about 11am on May 7, before lodging a police report. Police later arrested Maarof at a house in Kg Delima, Manggatal, in connection with the case and seized the stolen wall fan from him. The complainant also identified the seized fan as belonging to the Shell station. Inspector Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah prosecuted. — Daily Express
