Maritime body says threat level in Hormuz Strait 'critical'
Maritime body says threat level in Hormuz Strait 'critical' The UK’s Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) organisation classified the threat level in the Strait of Hormuz as "critical", warning that there is a risk of "attack or miscalculation" in the waterway. UKMTO also found that the threat of piracy in the region also remains “severe”, however, no security-related incidents were reported in the last 48 hours. "The operating environment remains high risk based upon recent attacks on ships in the area," its latest update indicated. "Multiple instances of aggressive hailing and assertive action by Iranian units have been noted in the last 48 hours," UKMTO added, noting that the blockade in the waterway continues.
