“KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds warning affecting Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and nine states until 6pm today. In a statement, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Perak are Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim. The warning also covers parts of Terengganu, namely Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman, as well as Pahang involving Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Bera and Rompin, in addition to Selangor. Similar warnings were issued for Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and parts of Johor, including Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian and Kulai. In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro and Mukah), Kapit and Bintulu. Meanwhile, in Sabah, the warning covers the Interior areas of Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan, as well as the West Coast, Tawau and Sandakan divisions, including Telupid and Beluran. — Bernama
