Motorcyclist dies at scene after suspected collision with cow in Tapah
IPOH, May 21 — A motorcyclist was killed after the motorcycle he was riding is believed to have struck a cow at KM12 of Jalan Tapah-Changkat Petai at about 8.10 pm yesterday. Tapah police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hashim said initial investigations found that the victim, a man in his 20s, was riding alone and was on his way home to Sungai Manik after work when the incident occurred. “Investigations at the scene found traces of cow dung and skid marks on the road. There was also extensive damage to the front of the motorcycle, indicating that it had collided with an object before skidding,” he said in a statement today. He said no evidence of the involvement of any other vehicle was found, while the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Abdul Malik said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Tapah district police headquarters (IPD) at 05-4011222 or the investigating officer, Insp Mohd Faizan Ahmad @ Mohammed Razikin, at 013-2087819. — Bernama
