Murder suspect in decomposed body case in Melaka remanded for further seven days

“MELAKA, June 4 — The suspect in a murder case involving the discovery of a decomposed body wrapped in a mattress with his hands tied in a shophouse in the Pokok Mangga area here has been remanded for another seven days starting today. Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the remand period of the suspect, a 40-year-old local man, has been extended to assist in the investigation into the case. “Police are still awaiting instructions from the public prosecutor’s office for further action,” he said in a statement here today. Previously, the media reported that a decomposed body with both hands tied, wrapped in a mattress, was found in a shophouse in Pokok Mangga on May 28. The body was reported to be in a decomposed state, believed to have died for more than two weeks to a month and the body was reportedly found by the owner of the premises, after he came to inspect the shophouse because he failed to contact his tenant.
