Planning minister reviews investment plan, development efforts with Menoufeya governor
Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met with Amr El-Gharib, Governor of Menoufeya, during a field visit to review development projects under the economic and social development plan and assess efforts to enhance services in line with Egypt Vision 2030. Governorate officials outlined the strategic objectives of Menoufeya’s development plan, which aim to improve quality of life, boost self-generated resources, promote clean energy, and strengthen human capital. They also presented details of the 2025/2026 plan, covering projects in roads and transportation, environmental improvement, economic and local development, and urban and rural infrastructure. Implementation rates exceeded 90%, reflecting strong commitment to completing projects efficiently in accordance with public investment governance standards. Discussions also addressed priorities for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, which include 84 projects across infrastructure, roads, environmental improvement, and urban and rural development. Rostom reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing Menoufeya’s needs, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and water treatment, stressing that reforms must translate into tangible improvements in citizens’ daily lives. He highlighted ongoing efforts to govern public investments, rationalize expenditure, and direct resources toward priority projects that directly serve citizens, while safeguarding development gains and completing projects already underway. Rostom instructed ministry officials to assess the governorate’s actual needs—especially in drinking water and sanitation—and ensure adequate financial allocations for ongoing and future projects. As part of continued support, Rostom directed the provision of urgent logistical assistance to Menoufeya’s technological centres, including 25 devices, 15 scanners, 10 printers, and three queue management units. The move aims to enhance operational efficiency and accelerate processing of citizens’ transactions, particularly reconciliation requests, shop licensing applications, and utility connection requests handled in coordination with the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. Governor El-Gharib emphasized that Menoufeya is steadily advancing its development and service projects under a clear vision to maximize government investments and achieve high completion rates. He underscored the importance of field inspections, direct communication with contractors, and proactive support to overcome obstacles, all in line with Egypt Vision 2030. El-Gharib reaffirmed his commitment to full cooperation with the Ministry of Planning to strengthen comprehensive development efforts, optimize resources, and ensure that economic progress is directly reflected in citizens’ quality of life across all sectors.
