Qatar Museums showcases future vision in architecture, sustainability
Qatar Museums (QM) is participating in the annual meeting of the Unesco Creative Cities Network 2026 from June 8 to 11, hosted by Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany. Representatives from creative cities around the world are taking part to exchange experiences and visions on the role of design and innovation in building more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities that can meet the challenges of the future. Qatar is represented by the cities of Doha and Lusail. The meeting, which is running until June 11, serves as an international platform for dialogue and cooperation among member cities of the Unesco Creative Cities Network. Its sessions addressed a range of issues related to urban design, cultural identity, sustainability, and innovation, and showcased best practices and inspiring experiences for developing urban environments and enhancing quality of life. QM participates in the meeting by presenting its vision for the future in architecture and sustainability. Lusail City, which recently joined the Unesco Creative Cities Network in the field of design, is scheduled to participate in the session for new member cities, where it will showcase its development experience, future vision, and its growing role in the global dialogue on the future of cities. Lusail stands out as an urban model that blends modernity with cultural identity. At first glance, it appears to be a city designed with a comprehensive vision for the future, taking advantage of a unique opportunity to reimagine architecture, sustainability, and urban life from scratch. However, this modern city also rests on deep historical roots; the land on which it stands holds a part of the country’s memory and heritage, passed down through generations. Today, Lusail continues to build this bridge between the past and the future by adopting the latest concepts in innovation and urban planning while preserving its cultural identity, embodying Qatar’s vision, which balances sustainable development with the preservation of national heritage. The participation of Doha and Lusail in the annual meeting also provides an opportunity to enhance the presence of the country’s Creative Cities Network on the international stage and to open new horizons for co-operation and knowledge exchange with the network’s member cities. This supports creative initiatives and consolidates Qatar’s position as a regional and international hub for culture, design, and innovation. Unesco established the Creative Cities Network in 2004 to support cities that rely on culture and creativity as key drivers of development.
