RTM, Astro secure broadcast rights for Fifa Club World Cup coverage, says Fahmi
KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — Football fans in Malaysia will be able to watch the upcoming Fifa Club World Cup through free-to-air and pay television platforms, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said today. He said live broadcasts of the matches, which begin on June 11 in the United States but June 12 in Malaysia, will be available via satellite broadcaster Astro, and national broadcaster RTM. “Viewers can tune in through RTM’s television channels, including TV1, TV2 and RTM Sukan, while broadcasts will also be accessible via the MyTV platform. “Those who do not have access to television broadcasts can also watch the matches through RTM’s digital platforms. “Those who have not downloaded the applications can do so for free, including RTM Klik and MyTV, either on mobile devices or Smart TVs,” he said. He added that the designated channels and platforms had been set specifically to carry coverage of the tournament. Further details on match schedules and coverage arrangements are expected to be announced by broadcasters closer to the opening matches, Fahmi said.
