Developing a sound understanding of mathematics when we are young is essential – children’s early mathematical understanding is strongly associated with their later school achievement, and mathematics plays a key role in helping children make sense of the world around them. We will explore the evidence around Early Maths, with a particular focus on the five evidence-informed recommendations from the recent EEF guidance report, and consider practical, actionable strategies which can be used in schools and early years settings.
