Over 1,800 staff and faculty attended the annual summer BBQ at Agnes Benidickson Field on June 2. Hosted by the Office of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, the event is an annual thank you to the university community for their adaptability, imagination, and commitment to the university. “It was great to gather at the BBQ and connect with colleagues from across the university and to celebrate the dedication and hard work that sustains the university,” says Patrick Deane, Principal and Vice-Chancellor. “Thank you to Hospitality Services for your work on this event, and to everyone who joined us.” Senior leaders served an updated menu based on last year’s feedback. The gathering was zero-waste, featuring compostable materials, multi-sort recycling and organics bins. Following the event, all untouched food within safe temperature controls were donated through local agencies via LionHearts Kingston. Attendees also contributed to a donation bin supporting the AMS Food Bank with non-perishable food items. Employees had the opportunity to chat with staff members from the Vice-Principal, Culture, Equity, and Inclusion Office who coordinated informational tables representing the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at Queen's. Staff and faculty were able to meet representatives from the ERGs and learn more about membership and upcoming opportunities.
