Ipoh police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the suspects, aged 34 and 38, were arrested around 1am yesterday at a restaurant in Bercham. “Yesterday, police detected a viral video on X showing two suspicious men opening a Telekom Malaysia distribution box (DB) near a house in Taman Rapat Setia Baru. “No cables were stolen, but there were clear signs of the DB box having been opened and rummaged through,” he said in a statement. Background checks revealed that one suspect has a prior criminal record and seven drug-related records, while the other has three criminal records, he said. Police also seized a red Proton Persona believed to have been used during the incident, along with several other items, for investigation under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code for attempted theft. “The Ipoh district police thank the public for coming forward with information.
