Writing on Truth Social, Trump said Iran “has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years”. “They will be laughing no longer!” He also lashed out at his predecessor, Barack Obama, claiming he had been overly accommodating towards Tehran. On the same platform, Trump said Obama gave Iran “a major and very powerful new lease on life”. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, known as the JCPOA, was agreed and implemented under the Obama administration in 2015.
