US Secretary of Energy visits QatarEnergy's Golden Pass LNG project
US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright visited the Golden Pass LNG project in Sabine Pass, Texas.In a statement, QatarEnergy said that Secretary Wright's visit, which included a tour of the project, highlighted the growing role played by LNG in driving global economic growth and development, as well as the value this partnership between Qatar and the United States brings to global energy security.Commenting on the visit, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi said: 'We are delighted by Secretary Chris Wright's visit to our largest investment in the US, which is an embodiment of the strong relations between our countries and the decades-long strategic energy partnership we share.'His Excellency added: 'In partnership with ExxonMobil and with the support of the US Government, Golden Pass LNG reinforces QatarEnergy's position in the global energy sector, drives economic growth, and contributes to key US energy and economic policy objectives.'His Excellency concluded his remarks by saying: 'I would like to thank the Government of the United States and the Legislature of the State of Texas for their valued support of this project, as well as our strategic partner ExxonMobil, and all the employees and contractors at Golden Pass LNG for their great efforts on this project.'Golden Pass LNG will produce up to 18 MTPA of LNG when its 3 LNG trains are fully operational. Train 1 has already started production and has exported its first LNG shipment, which was safely and successfully loaded onboard QatarEnergy's 'Al-Qaiyyah' LNG vessel in April 2026.Golden Pass LNG is a partnership between QatarEnergy (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%). The two partners had announced their final investment decision for developing the Golden Pass LNG project in February 2019.
