“MELAKA, May 8 — Police have confirmed receiving a report on a Year Five pupil who was injured after falling from the roof of a bicycle shed at a primary school in Batu Berendam yesterday. Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at about 12.40pm during a class changeover. Initial investigations found the boy had climbed onto the roof to retrieve another pupil’s shoe that he had thrown and was lodged there. “While attempting to climb back to the first floor of the school building, part of the roof gave way, causing the victim to fall and injure his right leg,” he said in a statement today. The boy received emergency treatment at the school before being taken to Melaka Hospital and later transferred to a private hospital for further treatment. Christopher said the victim was in stable condition and had sustained a minor fracture to his right ankle. Investigations involving the criminal investigation team, forensic personnel and witnesses confirmed the incident was accidental, with no elements of bullying, abuse or negligence involved. He advised the public against spreading speculation or false information that could cause public concern or disrupt investigations, adding that the case was investigated under a Police Enquiry Paper (KEP). — Bernama
