“A recent McMaster grad whose work has strengthened connections with students and young alumni has been awarded the university’s first TD Insurance Meloche Monnex (TDIMM) Fellowship. Fiona Rankin ’24 was awarded the fellowship by the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) at its recent national conference. The fellowship recognizes young advancement professionals who demonstrate strong leadership potential, equity- minded practice and a commitment to community-centred engagement. “I am deeply honoured to be selected for this fellowship,” Rankin said. “Being named McMaster’s first-ever recipient makes this moment even more meaningful. I’m incredibly proud to represent such an inspiring institution.” In her role as Alumni Officer, Young Alumni and Student Relations, Rankin focuses on career development, mentorship, inclusive programming and digital engagement. She also leads engagement strategies for students and graduates from the past decade through the university’s MAC10 programming and was the driving force behind MacConnect, a mentoring and networking platform that reached more than 2,000 users in its first year. Rankin has also led high-impact initiatives such as the annual Life After Mac Conference and the Elevate & Empower Black Alumni Networking Night, reflecting her commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion through accessible design and meaningful collaboration. Rankin credits the Alumni team with helping her achieve this honour. “I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such passionate, dedicated individuals every day,” she said. “This recognition reflects the strength, collaboration and heart of our University Advancement team.” “Fiona listens deeply, acts with integrity and inspires those around her,” said Karen McQuigge, Director, Alumni Engagement. “Her thoughtful, collaborative approach and deep understanding of the evolving needs of young alumni have been especially valuable as we prepare for a university-wide fundraising campaign.” As McMaster gears up for the campaign, Rankin has played an important role in strengthening the young alumni pipeline and ensuring emerging alumni feel connected to the university at a pivotal moment in its history. During the year-long fellowship, she will participate in tailored learning experiences and engage with advancement professionals from institutions across Canada, bringing new insights and perspectives back to McMaster. “This fellowship represents a unique opportunity to grow as a leader and contribute at a higher level within the field,” Rankin said. “I’m eager to learn, collaborate and help shape a more inclusive, innovative and community-centred future for advancement.” The post Young alumni officer awarded McMaster’s first TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Fellowship appeared first on McMaster News .
