“What do you like most about your job? Seeing students’ lives change in real time. There’s nothing better than watching someone gain confidence, perspective and direction through a global experience. Describe a project or initiative you’re currently working on that excites you. We’re building an AI-powered platform that helps students discover and access global learning opportunities in a much more personalised way. It’s exciting because it’s not just about technology. It’s about expanding access and making these experiences possible for more students. What’s a piece of work you’re proud of – and what did it teach you? Growing our scholarship initiatives. It taught me that access is everything. Talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn’t. If we can close that gap, we change lives at scale. What’s a small daily habit that helps you in your work? Starting the day by prioritising people over tasks. Quick check-ins, a note of appreciation, or just being present. It sets the tone for everything else. What’s one change you’d like to see in your sector over the next few years? A more visible connection between global experiences and career outcomes. Students (and families) should clearly see how these experiences translate into real-world opportunities. In addition, because our research so clearly demonstrates the high impact nature of these experiences, all students should have access to them (vs the tiny percentage who typically do). This idea is at the core of our mission at API. What idea, book, podcast or conversation has stayed with you recently? The idea that AI should expand human potential, not replace it. The most powerful use cases I’m seeing are the ones that make people more capable, not less involved. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out in this field? Stay curious and say yes to experiences that push you out of your comfort zone. That’s where the real growth happens.
