QM expands AI Tour with French, Chinese support
Qatar Museums (QM) has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tour platform with new French and Chinese language support, alongside a range of features designed to transform the way visitors experience museums, public art, and heritage sites across Doha. The upgraded QM AI Tour builds on its existing English and Arabic interface, bringing the total number of supported languages to four and making the platform more accessible to a broader international audience. First launched in early 2025, the initiative offers a personalised cultural journey powered by AI, allowing users to interact with a virtual guide that fits recommendations to individual interests. At the core of the experience is an AI Art Specialist that engages users in conversation, asking about their preferences before curating a customised itinerary across Qatar’s cultural landmarks. The system then guides visitors through selected museums, public installations and heritage sites, offering insights, directions and contextual information throughout the journey. According to the QM, the platform introduces interactive features such as real-time question-and-answer functionality, voice and chat support, and an image-recognition tool that allows users to snap photos of artworks to receive instant background information and analysis. Each stop on the tour includes AI-generated summaries and detailed content pages, while integrated navigation through platforms such as Google Maps and Uber ensures a seamless visitor experience. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the AI Art Tour aligns with the objectives of Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030, which prioritises innovation and digital transformation. The platform also connects with the QM’s digital calendar, offering exhibition recommendations based on users’ location, time and interests. Visitors can further explore creative features powered by generative AI, enabling them to reinterpret artworks through guided prompts. Officials said the initiative strengthens the discoverability of Qatar’s cultural assets for both residents and international visitors, while creating a more engaging and intuitive way to explore the country’s artistic and historical offerings. The expansion comes as the QM marks its 20th anniversary, reflecting two decades of efforts to position the country as a global cultural destination. It also forms part of “Evolution Nation”, a nationwide programme curated by Qatar Creates to celebrate 50 years of cultural development and creative growth in Qatar.
